Zetasizer Nano ZS (Malvern Instruments Ltd., Worcestershire, UK) is a device used to characterize materials such as nanoparticles, colloids, proteins, liposomes and microemulsions. The analyzer allows to obtain physicochemical parameters: particle size, molecular weight and zeta potential. The device uses widely used techniques such as: dynamic light scattering, electrophoretic light scattering and static light scattering for complete analysis of nanometric dimensions systems.

Zetasizer is equipped with an MPT-2 autotitrator and a degasser. It is used for the automatic measurement of particle size/zeta potential as a function of pH, conductivity and additive concentration. The autotitrator is equipped with a glass electrode for pH measurement and allows dosing up to three titrants in one experiment. It is also possible to measure the zeta potential of solid state using the surface zeta potential cell. The cell is dedicated for flat surfaces, such as filter paper, silica, polymers and bones, using the standard Zetasizer Nano system. The characteristic of surfaces and interfaces are crucial in many industries, including consumer products, especially chemicals, pharmaceuticals and sciences. In each of these areas, the interaction of the solution molecules with the surfaces may affect the material properties of the final product.
