Referat pod tytułem "Photon-Out Inner-Shell Spectroscopy at the GALAXIES beamline at the SOLEIL synchrotron" wygłosi Dr James M. Ablett (GALAXIES, Synchrotron SOLEIL, Francja).


In this talk, I will give a general overview of the use of hard x-ray photon-in photon-out spectroscopy at the GALAXIES undulator beamline at the SOLEIL synchrotron in France [1]. Photon-in Photon-Out spectroscopy in the hard x-ray range (>4 keV) is bulk sensitive, provides elemental and rich chemical information and allows for samples to be studied in-situ. For example, samples subjected to high-pressures in diamond-anvil cells can easily be probed using hard x-rays [2]. I will discuss how highly-resolved x-ray absorption spectra can be obtained by analysing the x-ray fluorescence photons using spherical single-crystal analysers as the incident photon energy is swept across an x-ray absorption edge, and what can be learned from such spectra. The critical optical components essential to these studies such as monochromators, mirrors and the detection scheme will also be outlined. In addition, an intriguing use of measuring the energy loss in the hard x-ray scattering process, in order to access the low-energy core levels of light elements such as the K-edge of oxygen in glasses will also be presented [3].
