The primary aim of the Academic Centre for Materials and Nanotechnology is conducting interdisciplinary research in the fields of modern engineering, physics and chemistry of materials, material nonodiagnostics and nanotechnology.
The tasks of the Academic Centre for Materials and Nanotechnology are:
- maintaining and developing modern scientific research infrastructure, in particular, infrastructure connected with nonodiagnostics and nanotechnologies, as well as making it available to the employees of the university and other research institutions,
- creating conditions for the infrastructure to be used by the doctoral students of AGH UST faculties, as well as other Krakow universities and research units; for this purpose, the Academic Centre for Materials and Nanotechnology can act as a partner in the programmes of interdisciplinary doctoral studies,
- conducting research into materials, nanomaterials, material technologies and nanotechnologies, in particular for the purpose of their application in laboratory conditions and industry,
- conducting pro-innovative activity in the field of advanced material technologies and nanotechnology,
- the development of AGH UST research offer in the field of technology and nanotechnology of materials.
The Academic Centre for Materials and Nanotechnology collaborates with AGH UST faculties, the Jagiellonian University, the Cracow University of Technology, as well as other Krakow universities and external entities. In particular, the Academic Centre for Materials and Nanotechnology carries out the following projects:
- the Centre’s own research projects (run by the Centre as a unit, or carried out by individual researchers of the Centre),
- joint research projects with other AGH UST faculties (in particular, projects run jointly by individual researchers of AGH UST faculties and the employees of the Academic Centre for Materials and Nanotechnology),
- joint research projects with other universities and scientific research units (in particular, joint projects run by individual researchers of these universities, AGH UST faculties, and the Academic Centre for Materials and Nanotechnology),
- research projects of practical character run jointly with other enterprises, in particular, companies and businesses located in the Małopolska region.
The AGH UST Academic Centre for Materials and Nanotechnology is a scientific research unit whose activity is based on article 5, paragraph 5 of the AGH UST Statute; the Centre has a status of an AGH UST non-faculty basic organisational unit.
