ACMiN Seminar: „Liquid crystals for signal processing applications in the microwave and millimeter wave frequency ranges”

It is our pleasure to invite you to attend the Krakow Condensed Matter Seminar which will be held on Thursday, October 28th at 2.00 p.m. in the ACMiN auditorium no.: 1.02A, on the second floor, bldg. D-16 (Kawiory Street 30). Alternatively, you can join the meeting via the link below:

The lecture entitled „Liquid crystals for signal processing applications in the microwave and millimeter wave frequency range” will be given by Prof. Zbigniew Celiński (UCCS, Colorado Springs, USA) who will join us in person.

Abstract:

Liquid crystal technology has a long well-established history of applications in visible light, primarily in the display industry. In contrast, applications at lower frequencies (microwave through infrared) are less common. In this presentation, I examine non-display applications and review the use of liquid crystal materials for tunable signal processing devices operating at microwave and millimeter wave frequencies. These devices include tunable phase shifters, filters (bandpass and bandstop), antennas and antenna arrays. I will also review the typical characteristics of liquid crystals in these frequency ranges.
